Three things to do at home

  1. A hand holding a phone with a map app open

Install an eSIM so you have data the moment you land

You need data for Grab, maps and messaging. Installing at home means no SIM counter queue and no upselling at the airport.

  2. Hands holding two passports with boarding passes tucked inside

Get your e-visa from the official site only

Check whether your nationality is visa-exempt first. If you need one, the 90-day e-visa costs USD 25 single entry or USD 50 multiple entry on the government portal. Agent sites charge more for the same visa.

  3. Two travelers walking through a bright airport terminal

Landing late or with kids? Book your ride now

The airport is 35 km from Nha Trang, and Grab cars can be hard to find after 11 pm. A pre-booked car means a driver with your name at the gate and a price fixed in advance.

Step 2 · Getting into town

CXR to Nha Trang center: every option

Grab / Xanh SM (app)

300,000–400,000 ₫≈ $12–15
45–60 min
Best for Most travelers once their eSIM is working Book in the app after you have data. The fixed fare shows before you confirm. About 300,000–350,000 ₫ by day; late at night it can reach 400,000 ₫. Xanh SM is sometimes 10–15% cheaper.

Pre-booked private car

468,000–676,000 ₫≈ $18–26
45–60 min
Best for Late-night arrivals, families, lots of luggage Driver waits in arrivals with your name on a sign. Fixed price per car, agreed in advance. No app or local data needed when you land.
Book a fixed-price pickup

Airport taxi desk (fixed price)

300,000–400,000 ₫≈ $12–15
45–60 min
Best for No data and no booking Desk in the arrivals hall. Sedans and 7-seaters at a set price. Confirm the price to your exact hotel before you get in.

Bus 18 (airport bus)

50,000–75,000 ₫≈ $2–3
45–60 min
Best for Budget travelers with light luggage Stops in front of the terminal. First bus 05:30; the last leaves after the last domestic arrival, around 11 pm. Ends at 10 Yersin Street (19/8 Stadium). Cash only. The most recent fare reported is 75,000 ₫. No luggage hold, so big suitcases go in the aisle.

Scams to skip at CXR

The full fare for a short trip

Drivers at the exit may quote the full Nha Trang fare even if your hotel is at nearby Bai Dai. Confirm the price to your exact hotel first.

“Negotiated” flat rates

A driver offering a deal instead of the meter often ends up charging more. Use the taxi desk, the meter or an app.

Look-alike taxis

Fake cars copy the Vinasun and Mai Linh colors. Check the full company name on the door before you load your bags.

Step 3 · Day one

Your first day in Nha Trang

  • Carry small notes

Drivers may not have change for a 500,000 VND note on a short ride. Break big notes at a shop or ATM first.

  • Ask reception to call a taxi between resorts

Grab is unreliable for trips between beach resorts outside the city. Hotel reception can call Mai Linh or Vinasun for you.

  • Keep your e-visa approval letter offline

Immigration may ask for it. Save a PDF or screenshot, because you may not have data in the queue.
